3rd international NGOs meeting closes in Hanoi

(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese government’s poverty reduction programs have addressed a number of social issues and contributed significantly towards sustainable poverty reduction. Delegates reached the consensus at the 3rd international NGOs meeting which closed in Hanoi on Friday, with many valuable recommendations arrived at regarding solutions for enhancing cooperation between Vietnam and foreign NGOs in the future.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc stated that foreign NGOs and their Vietnamese partners have contributed to Vietnam’s poverty reduction path through their humanitarian and development activities. Ngoc said: "We believe that Vietnam’s cooperation with foreign NGOs will continue to develop on the basis of effective cooperation, mutual trust and respect, and sincerity, following this meeting’s positive outcomes. This will further contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable poverty reduction and development programs and at the same time increase understanding and friendship between the Vietnamese people and other people around the world."
The meeting issued a communiqué stressing that the NGOs have pledged to continue to search for funds from outside sources to support Vietnam more effectively. For its part, Vietnam pledged to improve its legal environment and create the most favorable conditions for foreign NGOs’ activities in Vietnam.
