60,000 pilgrims flock to Phu Tho to pay tribute to Hung Kings at weekend

(VOVWORLD) -The Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic over the weekend welcomed more than 60,000 pilgrims from over Vietnam to commemorate Hung Kings, the founders of the Vietnamese nation, according to the relic site management board.

Le Truong Giang, Director of the Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic Management Board, said that on the occasion of Hung Kings' death anniversary, which falls on Wednesday this year, crowds of people offered incense and paid tribute to the ancestors' merit despite heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Every year, Phu Tho province organizes ceremonies of the Hung Kings’ death anniversary to educate the tradition of patriotism and deep gratitude to the Hung Kings and ancestors for building and defending the country.

Phu Tho province is home to two UNSECO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritages of Humankind: the Hung Kings Worship Ritual and the Xoan Singing.
