Activities anticipate War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day

(VOVworld) – Activities are underway across Vietnam in anticipation of the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day this Friday.  An art exchange program was held in Hanoi on Sunday evening to honour war veterans who have overcome hardships to lead productive lives and contribute to society. The Vietnam War Veterans’ Association presented 200 gifts, worth 50 USD each, to war veterans and families of martyrs in special circumstances. Phung Khac Dang, Vice President of the Vietnam War Veterans Association, told VOV: "Branch associations across the country have contributed to the repair and restoration of martyrs’ cemeteries, support and gifts for Vietnamese heroic mothers, war veterans, and children affected by Agent Orange/dioxin. We’ve actively participated in building houses of charity for disadvantaged war veterans. We are very moved to see there are so many agencies and organizations accompanying us in such programs to show our gratitude."
