Activities at home and abroad to mark 70th anniversary of August Revolution, National Day - ảnh 1

(VOVworld) – Various activities are taking place nationwide to mark the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. On Tuesday, Ho Chi Minh City’s Committee for Overseas Vietnamese’s Affairs presented national certificates of merit to a number of overseas Vietnamese for their contributions to national construction and defense. Many of them recalled their stories of meeting President Ho Chi Minh and their memories of National Day on September 2nd, 1945. The National Museum of History opened an exhibition on Tuesday featuring 300 photos and documents displaying Vietnam’s history, culture, and socioeconomic achievements since Vietnam won independence on September 2nd, 1945. Nguyen Van Cuong, director of the museum, said: "The exhibition introduces a profound collection of Vietnam’s history to the public. It is expected to help visitors better understand how Vietnam defeated all its invaders and was able to protect its independence."

Another exhibition featuring Uncle Ho and his sentiments towards the southern region opened in Thua Thien Hue province on Tuesday. On display are 300 documents and artifacts about President Ho Chi Minh and socioeconomic and cultural achievements in many localities across Vietnam. A meeting was held in Vientiane, Laos on Tuesday to mark the occasion. Laos’ Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavonge said: "The Laos’ government and people would like to affirm our determination to stand by the Vietnamese government and people in any circumstances to promote our traditional relations, solidarity, and especially the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, State, and peoples."
