Activities in Truong Sa without Vietnam’s permission are invalid: Spokeswoman
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has responded to the Philippines’ recent naming of four sandbars and two coral reefs around Thi Tu island in the East Sea (internationally known as the South China Sea) as “completely invalid.”

Vietnam Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang told the press on Thursday that all activities conducted in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago without Vietnam's permission are completely invalid. She said Vietnam's consistent view is that the actions of all parties involved in the South China Sea must follow international law, pay respect to sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of other countries defined in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), observe the spirit and the content of Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and ensure that their actions have meaningful contributions to the maintenance of peace and stability in the East Sea.
