Additional 9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to arrive within this month

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will receive some 9 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccine within this month,  according to the Health Ministry.

By the end of the third quarter, a total of 30 million doses will have arrived in the country which is battling its most challenging coronavirus wave so far.

Vietnam has confirmed 51,002 COVID-19 cases including 47,394 recorded since the fourth wave of COVID-19 hit the country in late April.  

More than 4.3 million people in Vietnam have been vaccinated.

Vaccine producers worldwide have pledged more than 105 million doses for Vietnam this year. The country is negotiating to purchase 40 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V while Pfizer has agreed to provide additional 20 million doses in the fourth quarter.         

Vietnam has also signed COVID-19 vaccine production technology transfer contracts with the US and Russia.
