(VOVworld) - The 19th ASEAN Finance Ministers' Meeting and the 1st ASEAN Finance Ministers' and Central Bank Governors' Joint Meeting in Malaysia on Sunday. ASEAN financial land banking eaders agreed to promote the development of regional financial market towards the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). They pledged to closely cooperate to boost the financial and monetary integration process once AEC is established. A joint statement released after the meeting highlighted that ASEAN countries will continue their commitments in boosting economic growth and financial stability in the region. The statement shared the viewpoints of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) on policies regarding economic prospects, risks, opportunities, and challenges in promoting sustainable and comprehensive growth. According to the statement, AEC goals and activities within the ASEAN financial and monetary integration roadmap will continue to be implemented.

In an interview with Vietnamese reporters following the meeting, Vietnam’s Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung said Vietnam’s financial sector will ensure integration requirements and is taking steps to harmonize tax procedures and cut taxes within ASEAN.
