APEC promotes “Bogor targets” and regional connections

(VOVworld) - The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum concluded on Sunday in Indonesia. The APEC forum strengthened regional connections and promoted the “Bogor targets” agreed to by APEC leaders at the 1994 Summit in Bogor. The Bogor targets aim to turn APEC into a free trade region by 2020. In the closing session, APEC issued a joint statement confirming the agreement on collective solutions to cope with Asia-Pacific economic challenges and pledged to support a multilateral trading system and pursue the Bogor targets to boost sustainable development, fair trade, and regional integration. The APEC ministers also issued a joint statement titled “Strengthening of the multilateral trading system through the 9th WTO Ministerial Conference in Bali”.
