(VOVworld) – The ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ASEAN People’s Forum 2013 (ACSC/APF 2013) took place on Saturday in Banda Seri Begawan, Brunei. With the theme “ASEAN: Building Our Future Together”, the two-day event support the theme of the ASEAN Summit 2013 “Our people, our future”.

The ACSC/APF 2013 held 8 sessions focused on such issues as getting together to build the future, peace, ASEAN’s vision, and the participation of women and youths. Participants also mulled a recommendation mechanism, environmental protection, and the building of an ASEAN spanning the three pillars of politics-security, economics, and socio-culture. They adopted an ACSC/APF joint declaration and transferred the chairmanship of next year’s event to Myanmar which will also chair ASEAN in 2014.
