ASEM 10 releases joint declaration

(VOV/VOVworld) – A joint declaration stressing the need of a strong commitment to build a more dynamic and active Asian-European cooperation to deal with the global economic downturn closed the 10th ASEM Finance Ministers' Meeting in Bangkok on Monday.

Participants agreed that the commitment will create a momentum for worldwide balance and sustainable growth and pledged to foster inter-regional trade and investment through mechanisms of market-oriented economy, open multilateral trading systems, and non-discriminatory liberalization. The finance ministers sought measures to enhance Asia-Europe relations, especially in trade facilitation and security, intellectual property, and environmental protection, which include improving the financial environment and encouraging further investment and trade by private enterprises.  

Vietnamese Deputy Finance Minister Truong Chi Trung gave a presentation on Vietnam’s current economic status and its efforts to stabilize its economy and promote greater cooperation inside and outside the region.
