Asia Pacific Forum for People with Disabilities opens in Hanoi

(VOvworld) - Asia Pacific Forum for People with Disabilities opened in Hanoi on Thursday to promote their rights. Addressing the forum, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Pham Thi Hai Chuyen, said Vietnam has participated in international programs in support of the disabled, including the Asia Pacific Decade for People with Disabilities and the Incheon Initiative Strategy.

She said the National Assembly will ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities this Friday: “Vietnam will fully honor its commitments in the Constitution and laws regarding people with disability as well as the Incheon Strategy and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This will make sure that Vietnamese people with disabilities have a better life and practice their statutory rights. This forum will gather common voice and initiatives to promote support for the disabled in line with international commitments most effectively.”
