(VOVWORLD) - The multinational pharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca will give the EU an additional 9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the 1st quarter, European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen said Sunday.

AstraZeneca last week offered the EU 8 million more doses of its COVID-19 vaccine this quarter, which the EU deemed inadequate, an EU official told Reuters.
Under a contract agreed last August, the company should have supplied at least 80 million doses to the EU in that period.
