(VOVWORLD) - Australian peaches and nectarines will soon be making their way into Vietnam as Federal Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said the government is working to enable trial exports in the coming months.
Summerfruit Export Development Alliance chairman Ian McAlister said Vietnam’s reopening of the market is a good development for Australia’s fruit export industry.
Mr. McAlister said the necessary protocols between the Australian and Vietnamese governments have been signed and that there could be a small amount of trade in March and April with serious volume early December this year.
He also said that Australia hopes to soon be able to export plums to Vietnam.
