(VOVworld) – Preliminary results of Australia’s House of Representatives election on Wednesday/ July 6 shows that the ruling Liberal-National Coalition of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull won 70 seats and the opposition Labour Party won 67.
ABC election analyst Antony Green has projected the Coalition will secure at least 73 seats, close to the required number of 76 seats to win a majority government.
Regarding rumors about the Liberal party’s internal disagreements, the Liberal Party’s Vice President and Foreign Minister Julia Bishop said Mr. Turnbull deserved to continue in his post.

Opposition Labour Party leader Bill Shorten arrived in Tasmania to celebrate his victory, winning another 3 seats. On Tuesday Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull rejected the opposition leader’s calls for his resignation.
