Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attends a conference on investment promotion in Bac Kan

Speaking at a conference on promoting investment in Bac Kan province on Sunday, Prime Minister Phuc said: “Bac Kan has developed from a war resistance base to become a role model and a vanguard in poverty reduction and sustainable development. During the war, the province was the symbol of the close relationship between the Party and the people. In the current development cause, the province needs to uphold its unity and mobilize the community’s resources and build trust among investors and businesses.”

The Prime Minister praised the province’s recent social economic achievements  and its mining potential with lead and zinc reserves of more than 25 million tons and more than 400,000 ha of forest land. Phuc said Bac Kan enjoys favorable conditions to boost tourism and agriculture. He asked the province to improve its investment environment and competitiveness and cooperate with other localities. He promised to create more favorable policies to help boost the local growth.

At a meeting with Bac Kan authorities the same day, Prime Minister Phuc stressed the need to make more efforts to achieve targets set for this year, especially increasing economic growth and budget collection and restructuring the economy. The Prime Minister asked the province to further reduce poverty: “The province’s key task is to reduce poverty. It needs to mobilize social resources, work out specific programs and solutions to reduce poverty, and focus on planting trees, medicinal herbs, and cash crops and raising cows.”
