Speaking at a conference to promote investment in Bac Lieu on Tuesday, Prime Minister Phuc asked the province to tap its potential to become a relatively developed locality in the Mekong River Delta. To do this, the Prime Minister said a long-term vision must be worked out.

“By taking advantage of its potential and applying new technology, Bac Lieu will likely become a jewel in the crown of the southwestern coast of Vietnam. We believe that the province can realize it. Bac Lieu needs to improve its investment environment, create better conditions for domestic and foreign investors, and promote its economic and cultural potential,” Mr Phuc said.

The Prime Minister suggested the phrase “Vietnam’s shrimp industry” should be the tag word for Bac Lieu and the Mekong River Delta. He stressed the importance of clean and intensive shrimp production to ensure Vietnam’s brand. The province is also asked to upgrade its infrastructure and logistic services and increase human capacity building.
