Benelux to contribute to EU Rapid Deployment Capacity in 2025

(VOVWORLD) - Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, together known as the Benelux group, say they will contribute to the EU Rapid Deployment Capacity in 2025. Germany will be the lead nation in this force in 2025.

Luxembourg will provide satellite communications and space surveillance, and the Netherlands will contribute a 150-strong maneuver unit that operates with Boxer fighting vehicles, including its own medical support capability.

Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder said that Belgium will participate in EU battlegroups, which serve as the basis for this rapid deployment capacity in 2024.

The Defense Ministers of Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands said they work together in training military personnel and procuring and maintaining ships and are logistically intertwined. They also plan to jointly procure, maintain and operate reconnaissance drones.
