Brookings Institute: Good governance helped Vietnam contain COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - The US’s Brookings Institute has attributed Vietnam’s success in COVID-19 containment to its improved governance and policy coordination.

In an article published on Wednesday, it said Vietnam was one of the first countries to ease social distancing measures and reopen its society.

Vietnam’s effectiveness resulted from decades-long efforts to improve governance and responsiveness at local levels, according to the article.

Vietnam has made progress in healthcare access, transparency, and overall local governance, Brooking said, adding that effective local-central coordination plays an important role implementing national policies.Vietnam is now focused on boosting its domestic market and repositioning itself for opportunities in shifting global supply chains.
