Cai Rang floating market recognized national intangible cultural heritage

(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recognized Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho city as one of seven national intangible cultural heritages.

Cai Rang Floating Market is one of the three biggest markets in the Mekong Delta. The shops and stalls at the market are boats of different sizes. Earlier, Cai Rang floating market was added to the list of 10 most fantastic food markets in the world by UK Rough Guide magazine. The market is described very unique with colorful boats selling fruit. Can Tho city’s people’s committee is working on a project to preserve and promote Cai Rang market. Ngo Anh Tin, Vice Chairman of Cai Rang district’s People’s Committee, said: “We aim to keep the tradition of the floating market which has been there for more than 100 years. We also pay attention to keeping the environment clean and assuring waterway transportation safety at Cai Rang floating market”.
