Cambodia: CPP, CNRP discuss revision of Election Law

(VOVworld) - Leaders of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) met in Phnom Penh on Wednesday to discuss amending the election law in preparation for local elections in 2017.

According to spokesmen from the two parties, both sides agreed to meet next week to discuss parade duration, election campaign duration, campaign ads on public property, and other issues.

Analysts said that although no real results were reached at Wednesday’s meeting, it demonstrated a commitment to dialogue by the two parties.

Earlier, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who is also CPP President, and CNRP President Sam Rainsy vowed to continue cooperating.
