(VOVworld)- 55 seats of the 5th Cambodian Parliament were empty as the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) boycotted the session to protest the Parliamentary election result on July 28. The session began Monday morning, 60 days after the Election, in accordance with the Cambodian constitution. Only the 68 new lawmakers of the ruling Cambodia’s People Party (CPP) attended the meeting under the chairmanship of the oldest Parliament member, Heng Samrin. The session opened with the approval of the new Parliament membership list and new operating rules. King Norodom Sihamoni called for good faith and enthusiasm on the part of the new members. The new Parliament will elect its leaders and conduct a vote of confidence on Cambodia’s 5th royal cabinet.
