(VNA) – China yesterday/ on Saturday celebrated its 63^rd anniversary of National Day in Beijing.

At the event, Premier Wen Jia Bao reviewed 63 years of founding history of the People’s Republic of China especially since its open door policy from 1978. Wen said in the years to come, China will continue to promote reforms in economics, politics and culture. On foreign affairs, the premier said China will pursue an independent foreign policy of peace and firmly safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Regarding China’s 18^th National Congress of the Communist party of China, to be held on November 18^th, Wen said the congress would be an important meeting "to build on past achievements and open up new prospects for future development".
