China, Russia to enhance ties

(VOVWORLD) - China’s President Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia will be the key event in relations between Moscow and Beijing in 2023, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

President Vladimir Putin has invited President Xi Jinping to visit Russia this spring and both will join efforts to enhance bilateral relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Moscow and Beijing intend to defend the authority of the United Nations, strengthen the solidarity and cooperation in the G20, deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation in the BRICS economic bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), promote the activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and enhance the role of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Russia and China will also boost cooperation in the East Asia Summit, the ASEAN Regional Forum, the ASEAN Defense Minister's Meeting Plus, and support ASEAN’s central role in East Asia.
