China, South Korea agree to mend ties after THAAD standoff

(VOVWORLD) - Seoul and Beijing on Tuesday agreed to move beyond a year-long stand-off over the deployment of a US anti-missile system in South Korea, said the South’s Foreign Ministry.

The statement followed a recent discussion between Nam Gwan Pyo Director of the National Security Service of the South Korean Presidential Office and Kong Xuanyou, Assistant to the Chinese Foreign Minister. The same day, Mr. Nam said South Korean President Moon Jae In and Chinese President Xi Jinping plan to meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vietnam next week.
