Colorado Supreme Court disqualifies Trump from state’s 2024 primary ballot

(VOVWORLD) - The Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday declared that former President Donald Trump is disqualified from serving as US President and cannot appear on the primary ballot in Colorado because of his role in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by his supporters.

The 4-3 decision by the Colorado Supreme Court marks the first time a presidential candidate has been deemed unqualified for office under a rarely used provision that bars insurrectionists from holding office.

Trump vowed to appeal the ruling to the US Supreme Court, and the Colorado court said it will delay the effect of its decision until at least January 4, 2024, to allow for an appeal.
