Condolences extended to Indonesia over tsunami

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese leaders have conveyed their condolences to Indonesia over the massive loss of life and property caused by a deadly tsunami that devastated Indonesia’s Banten and Lampung provinces on Saturday.

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed the Vietnamese people’s solidarity with and readiness to help the Indonesian people in their difficulties.

According to local authorities, the tsunami, followed a volcanic eruption, claimed 220 lives and injured 800 others as of Sunday. Initial estimates said 430 houses were destroyed.
