(VOVworld)-A national conference on recovering remains of Vietnamese soldiers die in Laos and Cambodia  opened in Hanoi today/ on Tuesday.

The conference was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan. Attending the conference were Minister of Defense Phung Quang Thanh, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, Lao Deputy-Defense Minister Chansamon Chanhalat,  and representatives of Military and provincial search units. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan was speaking at the conference: “This conference is a good opportunity to review the implementation of agreements signed by the governments of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, strengthening 3-way coordination and cooperation to achieve the targets set for the 2012-2020 period. Many solutions were proposed at the conference to speed up the search and repatriation of  soldiers who fell in Laos and Cambodia.”

Vietnam plans to locate and bring home by 2015 the remains of 4,000 soldiers who fell in Laos and Cambodia. Vietnam has been searching for the remains in Laos since 1994 and in Cambodia since 2001, and has so far retrieved more than 30,500 soldiers.
