Conservative Giammattei elected Guatemala president
(VOVWORLD) - Conservative Alejandro Giammattei was elected Guatemalan president for the 2020-2024 term on Sunday, according to the central American country's electoral court .

Giammattei will take over on January 14th. In his electoral campaign, he promised to ramp up Guatemalan exports, encourage development, and work to fight poverty, corruption, unemployment and the lawlessness that fuels migration.
