(VOVworld) – Construction of a memorial monument of Hoang Sa soldiers began on Thoi Loi mountain in Ly Son island, Quang Ngai province.

The design by architect Tran Van Dung was selected from 100 entries of a contest launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor a year ago. President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Dang Ngoc Tung said Ly Son island is a living museum of Hoang Sa with many historical and cultural relic sites: “I hope that once completed the memorial will become a historical and cultural relic of national importance.”
