COVID-19: 50 cases, one more death reported on Wednesday noon

(VOVWORLD) - 2 imported cases and 48 locally-transmitted  cases of COVID-19 were confirmed from 6am to 12h noon on Wednesday. 

The new cases include 35 in Bac Giang, 12 in Bac Ninh, and 1 in Da Nang, according to the Ministry of Health.

The 2 imported infections have been quarantined in the southern province of An Giang, raising the overall number of imported cases to 1,509.

Vietnam has so far confirmed 6,166 locally-transmitted cases, including 4,596 since the fourth coronavirus wave hit the country in late April.

On Wednesday, Vietnam recorded the 49th death related to COVID-19,  which is the first death in HCM City.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases, the 37-year-old female patient died of severe COVID-19 disease, shock, infection, heart failure on the basis of hypertension, and end-stage chronic kidney disease.
