COVID-19 cases surge as northern Vietnam affected by seasonal change
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam recorded 183 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, up 70 cases compared to the previous day and the highest number of daily cases so far this year, according to the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry said COVID-19 cases in Vietnam in the past week has been surging rapidly with new cases on Monday and Tuesday exceeding 100 cases a day. The number of critically ill patients has also increased.
Experts said that northern Vietnam’s weather is in transition from spring to summer, a favorable condition for viruses to develop, including SARS-CoV-2.
The Ministry of Health has developed a plan in the event that a new, more dangerous variant of the COVID-19 emerges.
Stricter monitoring of the pandemic will be conducted at border gates, in the community, at medical examination and treatment establishments. Tests of suspected cases will be intensified for gene sequencing to early detect new virus variants as well as sub-variants capable of causing severe disease, evading immunity or reducing drug effectiveness.
The Ministry of Health continues vaccination against COVID-19, especially for high-risk groups, children from 5 to under 12 years old, and big cities, provinces and key tourist areas.
