COVID-19 fight intensified ahead of Lunar New Year
(VOVWORLD) - The Health Ministry held an online conference with 63 provinces and cities on Wednesday to further strengthen epidemic prevention and respond to International Day of Epidemic Preparedness (December 27).

Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that to date, Vietnam has controlled the COVID-19 epidemic. But the new SARS-CoV-2 virus variant in the UK is increasing the transmissibility of up to 70%, causing a serious headache for scientists.
He asked localities to strengthen management of immigrants, provide training for medical workers, and prepare to respond to infections in health facilities and plans for large-scale sampling and testing to ensure safety during the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Minister Long launched the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness in Vietnam as stated in the UN General Assembly Resolution approved on December 7, 2020, the first resolution proposed by Vietnam.
