Cultural, sports activities planned for Hung Kings’ Anniversary

(VOVWORLD) -A series of cultural, sports, and tourism events will be held from April 9 through 18 in Phu Tho Province to commemorate the Hung Kings – legendary founders of Vietnam.

Under the program, traditional rituals will be conducted at the temples dedicated to Lac Long Quan and Au Co in the Hung Kings Temple relic site on April 14 to express gratitude to the ancestors who laid the foundation of the country. Incense and flower offerings to the Hung Kings will be made in various localities.

The Hung King’s death anniversary ceremony will take place on April 18, the 10th day of the third lunar month.

A highlight of the 10-day ceremony is the opening of the “Hung Kings Temple Festival” and a celebratory “Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week 2024”.

In addition to ritual and festive activities, “Hung Kings Temple Spirituality Marathon 2024” has been organized in the Hung Kings Temple historical site including 6,000 athletes nationwide. The tournament to begin this Friday will comprise four races – a 5km run, a 10km run, a 21km half-marathon, and a 42km full-marathon.

On this occasion, Phu Tho will inaugurate a bas-relief featuring “President Ho Chi Minh talking to officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army at the Gieng Temple intersection”.

An art performance in praise of cultural heritage will be held on Saturday evening every month at the Hung Vuong Museum in Viet Tri City.
