Thanh pointed out some potential risks facing the ideology and morality of the city’s leadership and officials at all levels. He said the leaders and Party members should not satisfy with what the city has gained, because there remain various pending issues. Thanh said that Da Nang deserves the “ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City” title, but loose management has remained in dealing with environmental pollution in the Quang Tho fishing logistic and service center, Phu Loc residential area, and Thai Binh Duong Steel Company. Official Bui Ngoc Quang says: “This is the first time I’ve attended a dialogue with the city’s Party Secretary. Such direct talks are very useful for young officials like me. I’ve always tried to fulfill my tasks, improve my capability, and learn more experiences to contribute to the city’s development.”

Nguyen Xuan Binh, Director of the Da Nang Tourist Promotion Center, shares his view: “I appreciate the city’s policies, which have offered opportunities for the young officials and attracted talents.”

Regarding the implementation of the resolution of the 4th session of the 11th Party Central Committee, Thanh said it’s dangerous when the officials think they are important, being bureaucratic, self-complacent, and irresponsible. It will lead to power abuse. He confirmed that the city never accepts bribes to solicit for a place in the administration. He urged the officials, party members, and people to continue to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example so Da Nang will have competent staffers, ensure social consensus, and obtain the public’s trust.
