Deputy PM: Developing 5G important to ASEAN nations
(VOVWORLD) - Developing 5G - the next generation of mobile internet connectivity – is of significance to the growth of Vietnam and other ASEAN countries.

At the first ASEAN Conference on 5G in Hanoi on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam underscored the necessity of government support for IT businesses in developing 5G technologies.
"Initial steps to develop a new technology are always challenging. Therefore, the government should take the initiative in supporting enterprises to minimize risks. It’s necessary to boost innovation and at the same time seek measures to address shortcomings related to information security and safety," said Dam.
The Deputy PM suggested participating delegates discuss towards a suitable roadmap to the development of 5G, including identifying opportunities and challenges, and putting forward solutions.
During the ASEAN Conference on 5G, regional regulators and experts discussed 5G development policies and strategies, as well as challenges in building a 5G-based ecosystem.
