Deputy PM says foresight needed in connecting Long Thanh airport with cities

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on Wednesday requested the Ministry of Transport to review the planning of Long Thanh International Airport project with a far-sighted vision to connect the airport with Ho Chi Minh City and other localities with a capacity of up to 100 million passengers per year.

Deputy Prime Minister Thanh, who leads the the National Steering Committee for the Long Thanh International Airport Project, chaired a Committee’s meeting on Wednesday in Hanoi.

He highly appreciated Dong Nai province for actively implementing site clearance to hand over the project’s land to investors. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the goal of inaugurating the Long Thanh airport project by 2025.

Quality must come first, he said, calling for measures to prevent waste and negativity for this 5 billion USD project.

Deputy Prime Minister Thanh asked the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Project Management Board, and contractors to maintain the construction speed and make significant changes to the works under construction.
