Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha receives Governor of Kaluga, Russia

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has highlighted the development of the Vietnam-Russia special friendship cooperation relationship which has been tested over many years.

At a meeting with Vasilav Valerievich Shapsha, Governor of Kaluga province of Russia in Hanoi on Thursday, Mr. Ha suggested that Kaluga province coordinate with Vietnamese localities and businesses to expand cooperation in manufacturing industry projects to keep up with current development trends of science and technology.

Governor Shapsha said that Kaluga province is the “door” to attract foreign investment in Russia thanks to its strengths in agriculture, the manufacturing industry, health care, pharmaceuticals, and nuclear medicine. In the last 3 years, trade turnover between Kaluga and Vietnam increased tenfold, from more than 30 million USD to more than 300 million USD.

Governor Shapsha also said a large number of Vietnamese enterprises are investing in livestock production and dairy processing in Kaluga, expressing his optimism in attracting more Vietnamese investors. He said Kaluga province also wants to expand cooperation with Vietnam in education, training and cultural exchanges.
