USAID said it has signed the third and final contract to eliminate dioxin at the airport using a thermal treatment. The contractors have completed the construction of a yard to store contaminated soil and approximately 3,200 cubic meters of contaminated soil have been moved here to dry before the next treatment stage. All the water run off from the soil will be collected and treated before disposal. USAID Director in Vietnam Joakim Parker said that the project is on schedule and he is happy with the cooperation of the Vietnamese Government agencies, especially the Ministry of Defence. The project is scheduled for completion by 2016.
