Documentary film about Paracel archipelago screened in Paris

(VOVworld) – A documentary film about Vietnam’s Hoang Sa or Paracel archipelago directed by Vietnamese French Andre Menras has been screened at Vietnamese Cultural Center in Paris, France.

Entitled “Hoang Sa Vietnam: the pain of loss”, the film depicts the lives of fishermen in Binh Son district and Ly Son island district in Quang Ngai. It features strong determination of local fishermen to continue their production and protect the national sovereignty despite a great deal of difficulties. The documentary was shown in other France’s cities such as Toulouse, Beziers and other European countries like Germany, Czech Republic and Poland. After each show, there were discussions on the lives of Vietnam’s fishermen and their effort to confirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over Paracel and Spratly archipelagoes. Director Menras also called for financial support to the families of Vietnamese fishermen. The film screening was organized by Vietnamese Students Association in France with the participation of Overseas Vietnamese community there.
