Domestic tourism hectic in first days of new lunar year

(VOVWORLD) - The northern province of Quang Ninh on Thursday welcomed the first group of tourists after a 2-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

Pham Ngoc Thuy, Director of the provincial Tourism Department, said that a large number of of visitors have flocked to local spiritual and scenic sports since the beginning of the new lunar year.

“This is an encouraging signal. We hope to fulfill our target of receiving 9.5 million tourists in the half of this year we are gearing up to attract visitors from the southern region, pilgrims, and foreign tourists.”

Quang Ninh is home to Ha Long Bay, which is twice recognized by UNESCO.

Domestic tourism hectic in first days of new lunar year - ảnh 2Royal palaces in the Imperial City in Hue lure a lot of visitors in the first days of the Year of the Tiger 2022. 

The central city of Hue has received 50,000 tourists including 330 foreigners over the past 4 days. Major attractions include the Imperial City, the Nguyen Kings’ tombs, and pagodas.  

“At the beginning of a new lunar year, we often choose to visit historical and cultural sites. We hope to give the younger generation a better understanding of our heritages,” said visitor Nguyen Thi Hai Thuong.

Other tourist attractions around Vietnam like Sa Pa in the north and Hoi An ancient town and the resort city of Da Lat in the central region also welcomed crowds of visitors during the first days of the Year of the Tiger.
