(VOVworld) – Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un stressed that his country's participation in the 2014 Asian Games in the Republic of Korea would help improve cross-border relations.

The statement was made just days after negotiations on Pyongyang's dispatch of its delegation failed. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted Kim as saying that the participation of the DPRK in the 17th Asian Games offers an important occasion in improving the inter-Korean relations and removing distrust between them. Earlier, Pyongyang said it would send a delegation of 700 people including 150 athletes to the 17^th Asian Games to be held from September 19 to October 4 in Incheon of the Republic of Korea.
