According to Egyptian national TV on Wednesday newly-appoined Public Prosecutor Talat Abdallah has withdrawn his resignation offer. Abdallah said the resignation offer was made in a ‘vague and unusual’ context and under the pressure of judges, so he has withdrawn it. Abdallah explained that he does not want history to record that he resigned due to external pressure. Abdallah said that all documents of resignation and withdrawal of resignation were sent to Minster of Justice Admed Mekki for a final decision. Early this week, less than one month after being appointed to this position, Abdallah sent his resignation offer to the State Judicial Council (SJC). Several judges asked him to resign and accused him of forcing judges to investigate the bloody conflict outside the Presidential Palace on December 5.
