EU members plan to expand Iran sanctions

(VOVWORLD) - Germany and eight other EU members are planning to expand sanctions on Iran, the German magazine Der Spiegel reported.

A package containing 31 proposals, such as asset freezes and travel bans targeting individuals and institutions in the security sector, was introduced in Brussels on Sunday, and is expected to be approved by EU foreign ministers at their upcoming meeting next Monday.

On October 17, the EU imposed sanctions on 11 Iranian individuals and 4 entities, including Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology Issa Zarepour, two leading Morality Police officials (Mohammad Rostami and Hajahmad Mirzaei), and several local police officials.
