EU security must no longer depend on US, says Macron
(VOVWORLD) - French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday that he would put forward new proposals for the European Union to boost its security, saying the bloc must stop depending on American might.

The proposals will be unveiled in the coming months, he said in a speech attended by 250 diplomats, lawmakers and international relations experts. Macron emphasized that Europe can no longer rely on the United States for its security, adding that it is up to the bloc’s members to guarantee European security. He added that France diplomats should launch an exhaustive review of security with all of Europe’s partners, take new initiatives, and build new alliances.
