Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang acknowledged that the report noted some of Vietnam’s achievements and progress in human rights protection. However, she expressed regret that it also contained some biased comments based on false information, failing to accurately reflect the actual situation in Vietnam.

Hang reiterated that protecting and promoting human rights is a consistent policy of the Vietnamese State. Vietnam considers its people the center and driving force of its national renewal process and socio-economic development.

Hang said the country is committed to improving the quality of life and ensuring the enjoyment of rights for all its citizens. Basic human rights and freedoms are enshrined in the Constitution and law, and their respect is guaranteed in practice. Vietnam’s efforts and accomplishments in human rights are widely recognized and highly appreciated among the international community.

The comprehensive partnership and cooperation between Vietnam and the EU are progressing well. Vietnam is prepared to engage openly and frankly with the EU on human rights issues, fostering mutual understanding through annual dialogue mechanisms and other bilateral exchange frameworks.

Vietnam believes that enhanced exchange and dialogue through these existing cooperation mechanisms will provide the EU with complete, objective information and a better understanding of the realities of human rights promotion and protection in Vietnam. This, in turn, will contribute to strengthening Vietnam-EU relations, said the spokesperson.
