(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam national football team will face Indonesia on Thursday in the first leg of the second round of the Asian (AFC) 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The match will take place at Indonesia’s home, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. Vietnam will host the second leg at My Dinh Stadium next Tuesday.
The two matches will decide Vietnam’s ranking in Group F and are considered the most important face-offs for both teams in recent years.
The world football federation (FIFA) has called the face-off one of the most important matches in the second round of the Asian 2026 World Cup qualifiers. It added that football fans in Southeast Asia will not be able to take their eyes off the game.
In addition to the games between Vietnam and Indonesia, 4 other notable pairings include Qatar-Kuwait in Group A, Japan-North Korea in Group B, South Korea-Thailand in Group C, and Saudi Arabia-Tajikistan in Group G.
