(VOVworld)- Deputy Minister of Justice Hoang The Lien chaired a meeting with the Drafting Committee for the revised Criminal Code in Hanoi on Saturday. The delegates stressed the need to fine tune criminal policies to better protect human rights and citizens’ fundamental rights, revise the Criminal Code toward promoting the development of the socialist oriented market economy, meeting the demands of crime prevention and control, and ensuring social order and safety. The revisions of the Criminal Code should harmonize regulations of the Criminal Code with international conventions on crime prevention and control that Vietnam has signed. The revisions should also promote international cooperation in crime prevention and control, improve criminal legislation techniques, increase transparency, and feasibility and ensure the technical uniformity between the Criminal Code with other laws.
