(VOVworld) – Cuban Ambassador Jose Cabanas presented his credentials to US President Barack Obama on Thursday, becoming the first Cuban Ambassador to the US.

According to a statement by the Cuban Embassy in the US, Ambassador Cabanas was among 16 new ambassadors to the US to meet with President Obama in the Oval Office. During their meeting, President Obama and Ambassador Cabanas agreed that the appointment of the Cuban Ambassador is another advance in the normalization of US-Cuba relations.
