Foreign leaders condole over former Party leader’s passing

(VOVWORLD) - Leaders of Cuba, Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Myanmar have sent condolences to the Vietnamese Party, National Assembly, State, government, and people over the demise of former Party General Secretary Do Muoi.

Cuba’s President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers Miguel Diaz Canel sent sympathy messages to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, expressing Cuba’s profound grief on the passing of former Party General Secretary Do Muoi and remembering his contributions to the longtime friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

The first Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party Raul Castro sent his condolence to Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, saying Comrade Do Muoi, a close friend of Cuba, contributed to consolidating the Vietnam-Cuba fraternity.

In his condolence sent to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha praised contributions by former Party chief Do Muoi to Vietnam’s renewal and to laying a firm foundation for the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in his sympathy message sent to his Vietnamese counterpart that former Party General Secretary Do Muoi was a talented  leader, who played an important role in Vietnam’s development and paid great attention to developing ties between Vietnam and Japan.

Republic of Korean President Moon Jae-in sent his condolence to Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, praising Mr. Do Muoi’s major contributions to establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Myanmar’s State  Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint extended sympathies to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, applauding the excellent leadership role and great contributions by former Party chief Do Muoi to elevating Vietnam’s position worldwide.
