Speaking at talks on cooperation prospects between Vietnamese and Japanese universities in Hokkaido, which is part of his official visit to Japan, on Saturday, Minister Son said that cooperation in training human resources, especially high-quality human resources, is one of three key areas of new generation Official Development Assistance (ODA) between the two countries.

He recommended Japanese universities to connect the Japanese government's "Hokkaido Valley" idea and Vietnam's high-quality human resources strategy to train and recruit Vietnamese people workers in semiconductors to work in Hokkaido, thereby contributing to the development of the semiconductor and high-tech sectors of Hokkaido and Vietnam.

The discussion had the participation of Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, Takebe Tsutomu and Principals and Presidents of Universities in Ashikawa City, Hokkaido Red Cross Nursing University, Hakodate Future University, Kitami Technical University and Hokkaido Academy.

Japan is one of the largest donors for Vietnam's education and training and Vietnam has been the first country in the world to officially teach Japanese at secondary school since 2003, and primary school since 2019.

There are about 43,000 Vietnamese students studying in Japan, who are important force for socio-economic development and enhancing mutual understanding between the two countries.
